Water Out Coastal dries in Spring Lake, NJ
Doug Cressy and his crew at Water Out Coastal in Jackson, dried a 4800 s.f. home in Spring Lake, NJ this
past week. Doug received a call from a local contractor who was in the middle of a remodeling project when
a pipe in the bathroom on second floor burst, wetting the 2nd floor all the way down to the basement. When
Doug arrived at the home he found a few inches of standing water in basement, stains in the kitchen ceiling,
wet walls throughout, bubbled paint in several areas, wet furniture and carpet. Doug and his team set up two
Water Out® trailers and within a week dried all the furniture, carpets, basement and most of the drywall,
saving the homeowner thousands on replacing valuable furniture and an extensive restoration bill.
Great Work Guys!

Water Out Coastal handles two water losses

Doug Cressy of Water Out Coastal tackled two recent water losses. The first loss was a local residence
that was in the middle of an extensive remodeling project and the homeowners were out of town. An
insurance adjuster contacted Water Out and asked if we could take a look at the damages and do the
job. The water loss was due to a pipe bursting in the kitchen causing damage to hardwood floors,
baseboards, drywall and ceiling. Doug and his team immediately got to work. Water Out® trailer was
set up to dry on Wednesday and the structure was completely dry by Monday. The hardwood floors
were saved as was most of the drywall. The homeowners and insurance company were very happy.

The second job was a water loss in Trenton, NJ. A vehicle drove through a basement wall and the broke
water line. The 1000 sf basement was packed floor to ceiling with boxes and furniture, all of which were
wet. Homeowner had removed many of the items, but most of the boxes and furniture remained. Doug
and his crew set up the Water Out® trailer and dried the basement in 3 days.

Great job Doug, Joe and Johnny!

Water Out Coastal dries historic Steuben House in River Edge

SEE THE NEW JERSEY NEWS VIDEO OF THIS PROJECT -- Click here.

In the weeks since the recent nor’easter, New Jersey has seen stories emerge from across the state of the tremendous loss of property and possessions. In Northern Jersey, there has also been a loss of history. The Bergen County Historical Society, caretaker of the Steuben House in River Edge on the Hackensack River, is speaking out against the State’s lack of preparation for the storm and subsequent loss of a portion of its collection of Jersey Dutch artifacts dating back to the 17th Century. State Park workers were supposed to move the artifacts to the second floor of the building, but did not complete the task, leaving the historic pieces to suffer in floodwaters that rose two feet in the Colonial- Era building.
Water Out Drying Corp’s restoration division, Water Out Coastal in Jackson, New Jersey, was referred to the curator by a contractor who had inspected the damage and recognized the need for a fast, effective, safe method of drying given the sensitive nature of the contents and building. The Water Out® trailer and Water Out® “Big Dog” Dehumidifier are working in tandem on this project, reducing the humidity in the building, while maintaining temperatures at levels required by Historical Society standards. Water Out Coastal was seen on news broadcasts of the event when the story was picked up by local media outlets, and a copy will be available for viewing on the Water Out® national website (www.waterout.com) and Water Out Coastal website (www.wateroutcoastal.com) next week.
Water Out Drying Corp’s Charles Cressy spent last Sunday at the job site, and was moved by famous words tied to the property. He shares their history and relevance; “’These are the times that try men’s souls’. These famous words of Revolutionary firebrand Thomas Paine were penned at the national historic site known as the Steuben House in River Edge. The Steuben House and New Jersey were at a crossroads of the American Revolution. As the Continental Army, led by George Washington, retreated from a disastrous campaign in New York, the beleaguered men began to doubt their resolve and capabilities. The famous quote as part of “Crisis” by Thomas Paine became a rallying cry for the new Nation, and I urge you to search out and read the full text of the quote as it has particular relevance in our nation today.”

Water Out® and IMACC team up to dry a Rumson, New Jersey home

Last week Water Out Coastal (NJ) was called to a Rumson, New Jersey home by IMACC (Independent Mitigation and Cleaning / Conservation Network) after a plumbing failure caused extensive flooding in a finished basement. Water Out® is a charter member of IMACC, and both property owners and insurers have greatly benefited by that association.
Charles Cressy reported on the job, “About 4”-6” of water covered the basement floor and many stored items in boxes were floating about like toy boats. After extracting the water it was determined that the wall to wall carpeting should be disposed, but the Oriental rug with a high insurance value needed to be saved. Water Out Coastal called in IMACC member and Oriental rug specialist, Long Island Carpet Cleaners, and they promptly removed the carpet from the site to perform the cleaning and restoration. After extraction the Water Out® equipment was set up. The anxious homeowners had visions of a long period of time when their finished basement would be unusable while demolition and rebuild took place, but the project was completed in 48 hours. There is no rebuild required, with sheetrock walls and molding dried in place, and the floating contents dried in the desert-dry basement environment. As soon as the new carpet is installed and the restored Oriental rug returned, the project will be 100% complete.”

Water Out Coastal saves designer oak floors in Asbury Park

Our own Water Out Coastal in Jackson, New Jersey handled a loss at a model home last week as well, an
apartment in Asbury Park. Charles Cressy witnessed the job firsthand; “A New Jersey developer had just
completed a model apartment to showcase his $500,000+ new condominium project in Asbury Park. The
model was finished with all the top features including designer oak floors glued down to concrete. A gourmet kitchen and the mechanical equipment were placed on the oak floors as well. The oak flooring alone was valued at $10,000.
Within a day of completion 2” of water inundated the structure and soaked walls, floors, cabinets and built-ins. Mike Gruosso, the sales representative for Water Out Coastal, had visited the builder months
before, and when disaster struck the builder remembered Water Out®. If the oak floor could not be saved, the kitchen cabinets, mechanical equipment and built-ins would have to be removed as well. Within three days, Water Out Coastal had completed the job. The oak floor was saved and looked like new. Neither the kitchen cabinets nor sheetrock suffered any damage due to the complete and rapid drying. The building was dry with no replacement or rebuild required. By the way, the builder remembered
Water Out® because Mike forwarded the Weekly Newsletter to him each and every week. Good job, Mike.”

Water Out Coastal hosts Insurance Luncheon and Demo in Brick, New Jersey

Water Out Coastal and Water Out Southern NJ Sponsor South Jersey Claims Annual Golf Outing

On May 5th, Mike Gruosso of Water Out Coastal New Jersey teamed up with Bud McKenna of Water Out
Southern New Jersey to sponsor the “Straightest Drive” contest at this year’s South Jersey Claims Association’s Annual Golf Outing at the Ramblewood Golf Club in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. The annual outing brings together insurance adjusters and insurance restoration companies from across the state; and this marked the first time that the Water Out® service providers in New Jersey joined forces to get the Water Out® name out there at the event. The prize for the straightest drive was a Ping G5 Hybrid Golf Club which Mike and Bud awarded to prize winner Eric Walker of Servpro of Woodbury, New Jersey. Out of the three hundred golfers participating, Eric was able to get within 12” of the straight line. Mike remarked, “The event brought together beautiful weather and new and old friends, and we all had a great time.”
Great work Mike and Bud, we look forward to seeing more stories from both of you.

Water Out Coastal Assists National Restoration Company on Local Loss

Water Out Drying Corp’s restoration division Water Out Coastal, was called in to a fire loss last week that turned out to be a minimal fire, but a lot of water. We were asked to assist a national restoration company with a quick drying guarantee. When our technicians arrived at the job, they found that the only equipment that the contractor had on the job was a small dehumidifier powered by an extension cord from a neighbor’s house and no heat. With one Water Out® trailer, twenty air movers, and a 35KW generator we were able to accomplish their quick drying goal.

To add an extra degree of difficulty, New Jersey got hit with a major snowstorm in the middle of the project burying the trailer in more than a foot of snow. The technicians reported that getting the equipment out of the snow was the most difficult part of the job.

Water Out Coastal Responds to Water Losses After a Week of Heavy Rains in New Jersey

Water Out Coastal received a call from an adjuster this week about a flooded basement. However, the loss was not in one of his customers’ homes, it was in his best friend’s house. He told his friend, “If you want your basement dried right call Water Out.”

A sump pump failure in the basement was the source of the loss and at one point the homeowner had 6” of water in his finished basement with water wicking 24” up the walls. Water Out Coastal had the basement dry in less than three days and saved all of the walls.

The adjuster followed up that phone call with another call, this time from one of the insurance company’s customers. Heavy rains in Northern and Central New Jersey over the past week have led to numerous sump pump failures and other water losses.

Thanks to Doug, Kelly, Joe, TJ and Johnny for the great work this week in New Jersey and keep us posted on how the rest of the jobs turn out.
